Kyoomba Sanatorium
The Kyoomba Sanatorium was operated by the AIF from 1916 until its closure in 1935. It was specifically used for the treatment of return soldiers suffering from tuberculosis.
The role the sanatorium played in the Stanthorpe community formed an important place in Southern Downs military history. Many of the veterans, who were patients here, went on to become soldier settlers in the district and some of their families still live in the region today.
