Dr Helen SHAW practiced medicine in Stanthorpe. Dr Shaw had been working in Stanthorpe for approximately fifteen years before she approached Mr Margaret Allison requesting a sanatorium be built at Kyoomba where she could treat patients. Mrs Allison had the sanatorium built and Dr Shaw was the first doctor to lease the permises from her.
Some years later, Dr Shaw moved her practise to Brisbane and was appointed Medical Officer for the Brisbane Red Cross.
